KUBE sucks! |
|
Alright, I lost what I originally typed, so I'll just going to cover the basics.
- I was forced to listen to KUBE today for about 2 hours. I don't remember the name of their "non-stop music blocks" but the longest block of music was 2 songs in a row; but even then there were sweepers between the songs. And that two block thing was commercials, sweeper, song, sweeper, song, sweeper, commercials. How can people stand this???
- In the car, I've been listening to about 1/3 KNHC, 1/3 custom casette, and 1/3 KMPS/Wolf/Q Country. KMPS and The Wolf both promise something like 55 minutes of music each hour; but I think that includes DJ banter and sweepers.
- DJs don't have anything good to say anymore. If I cared about the minor details of someone's life, I'd go to the mall and listen to people yell into their cell phones. I'm going to go with Rebus on this one--Shut Up and Dance--er, play music that is.
- Anyone seen the "Mother Tucker episode of Family Guy? They play more sweepers than anything on the radio, with some DJ banter. The sweepers might be catchy, but they're annoying as hell. How can anyone stand this? I dunno, but I think one or more of the writers were expressing their anger about commercial radio.
So what stations are you guys listening to? Not internet stations, because those are WAAAAAAY better than terrestrial stations. What do those stations promise as far as music and commercials? Banter and sweepers? Oh, and who read all of this?

Well, KIXI only promises old music (Sinatra, Burl Ives, Rosemary Clooney, Al Martino, etc...)
KJR, KJAQ and KZOK say only things like "less talk in the morning" and "40 min of music"... as for contests, I guess they do them... I ususally mentally block out what isn't music

I'm getting really close to buying an 80gb iPod -- I think this Christmas will be it
As for Terrestrial, I've been listening up north, Z95.3 and The Beat 94.5 -- And since its political season, I usually listen to the Commentators on 570 in the morning. As for the afternoon, probably will be c89.5, sometimes the Wolf.
I used to listen to KUBE in the mornings, but the commentators are better. Kiss is crap and I can't listen to KUBE any other time of the day anymore. KMPS I don't like as much as the wolf, but to be honest, they have almost the exact same playlist (more than once have I heard the exact same song play at the SAME time flipping between those two)
Yah an iPod is where I'm going to. Commercial radio is just to blah.

I have been listening to XM Radio lately more and more, featured on AOL. The System - Channel 82 is my favourite. I also listen to C89.5.

I usually listen to z95.3 , or whatever they are calling themselves[they've been in an identity crises for the past few years IMO[we're top40! no, wse're jack, no no! we're chr rhythmic! lol , anyways, ``it's eather them, or talk radio, when , if ever, I turn on the radio. I used to be a huge kube fan back in teh mid to late 90s and early 2000s, but they've lost there identaty IMO, not to mention, I've changed what I listen to drasticly.
